Ok, so I finally finished it yesterday. What did everyone think? It's pretty interesting but to be honest, I'm not really invested in it. It was cool and I love the Dany character but other than that... eh. I know I'm in the minority so I'd love to hear what you guys think.

I enjoyed it more than I thought as it moved on. There are some interesting characters and I was surprised when Ned was executed. I know I won't be spelling them right but Tyrion Lannister is one of my favourites him and the chaps at the The Wall.

I will watch season 2, filming begins shortly I know but it is something to watch after most of the Autumn schedule is done.

Exactly but the show did get better, setting up the idea took time so I'm hoping that we're done with that now and no more than episode 1 to get us moving along.

I have read the books, and ladies I entreat you to do the same. I wont give any spoilers (unless specifically requested) but the story gets better and better.

Favourite character is definitely Tyrion. He is wickedly funny, and despite being a Lannister, not really a bad guy. Second fave was Ned Stark, but then I have a soft spot for Sean Bean as I grew up down the road from him. My next favourite is Jon Snow. I love this character and the guy that plays him is very very young I know but quite lovely, and he does it so well. Jon really goes on quite an epic journey. I was moaning to a friend the other day and said I feel like a dirty old woman. Her response was if they can grow facial hair, they are fair game, so I dont feel quite so bad now Twisted Evil

Jason was brilliant as Drogo, however, having read the books I guess I didnt get too invested in his character as I knew what was going to happen.

LOL, I love your friends sentiments.

Yep I pretty much agree with the characters you liked. Why does everyone go on about Daenerys being awesome she was okay. I thought Catelyn Stark was more interesting.

I think that the character of Daenerys has more impact in the book because she is meant to be about 12 or 13 when she marries Drogho. Obviously they could not have the character so young in the TV series, so her strength isnt quite as impressive. Catelyn Stark is a brilliant female character - very strong, although I do think she is unnecessarily harsh towards Ned's bastard, Jon Snow. I mean, his ancestry is hardly his fault it is?

I guess not but then it's a normal feeling and would happen in real life so I do understand how would you feel if your husband brought his bastard child to live under your roof. I'd be a bit like her mind you my husband wouldn't be breathing !

12 years old, what's wrong with this GR Martin guy?

True. I wouldnt be all that happy about it either I suppose, I just think that she should take it out on Ned, not the boy.

Dean wrote:12 years old, what's wrong with this GR Martin guy?

Ha ha. I guess its the time setting. The world they inhabit is a sort of medieval time period and it wasnt uncommon then for girls to marry at that age. Usually as soon as their periods started, and they could breed. Shocked But then, people considered 50s to be old age, as they didnt live as long as we do now.

The characters of Jon Snow and Robb Stark are young teens in the book too. Again, the TV adaptation gave them a few extra years.

Did you see the Game Of Thrones panel footage from SDCC? Jason came out wearing shades, immediately after Peter Dinklage - which really emphasised their height differences. He then peered over his glasses to much whooping and screaming. When Emelia Clarke came out, he was the only one that stood up. I was watching the footage with my husband, and I cried out 'oh he stood up for his Khaleesi'. Husband just rolled his eyes at me. Embarassed
